This remote mountain village was in desperate need of a preschool (early childhood development center or ECCD). The parents work from dawn to dusk on farms far from the village and needed a safe place for their children to be during the day. The residents had built an ECCD in 2014 out of bamboo and zinc, but it was so poorly constructed that they had to close it within two years.
In partnership with the village school committee and Treasure Land Development Association, BSB agreed to fund a new school including sanitary toilets and a water tank.
The new school serves 81 households and opened in February 2018.
